An Overview of Some Popular Teeth Whitening Techniques

Teeth whitening is a cheap and cost effective way that people can make their discoloured or aging teeth look a whole lot newer. A lot of information exists on the web which supports the popularity and safety of teeth whitening techniques especially when these techniques are carried out by qualified dentists or by the use of qualified home teeth whitening kits. Some of these methods involve visiting a dentist’s office for a teeth whitening procedure and wearing a special tray for comfort when using teeth whitening agents. Different sorts of treatments exist and some treatments allow you to use home made teeth whitening solutions while others solutions require an actual visit to the dentist.

There are various tooth whitening products and the majority that come in chemical form are usually made up of carbamide and hydrogen peroxide compounds. The function of the hydrogen peroxide bleaches the enamel into its true white colour. Carbamide peroxide is a similar compound that comes in different concentrations. Teeth whiteners that are peroxide based usually come in the form of a gel. This gel is usually much more effective when placed in a mouthguard through the entire night or for a short period during the day. Sometimes the duration that this sort of treatment is used for is just for between 7 or 14 days.

One other set of products that may be used for teeth whitening are products such as whitening strips and certain brands of whitening toothpastes. Teeth whiteners that do not come directly from the dentist don’t come provided with a mouthguard, these are usually called home based teeth whitening kits. People should always make sure they take time out to get a proper fitting mouthguard because one that fits poorly could have a somewhat less effective reach than other products.

Crowns, veneers and bonding are all part of the whitening process as well. Crowns are in themselves little thin casings that cover the entire tooth. While crowns encase the whole tooth veneers cover the front of the teeth. Crowns tend to last much longer than veneers and since veneers may last up to 15 years, crowns may be much more preferable. Bonding is usually used for damaged teeth but can be used in conjunction with either veneers or crowns as a cosmetic whitening procedure. Another procedure of teeth whitening is the laser teeth whitening procedure. Laser teeth whitening is a somewhat more expensive procedure and it is a whole lot faster than the other procedures. If you have the money to opt for a quick teeth whitening procedure then laser teeth whitening is the one to choose.

What's the cheapest, easiest, and most effective way to whiten your teeth (I mean get them REALLY white)?
How can you do this easily and cheaply?
Advice on teeth whitening?
I've had flourosis (I think that's right) since I was about 8, with small brownish stains on my 2 front teeth that are really noticable, and less so on my other teeth. I'd love to have them whitened but don't really know anything about it. I'm aware it's not cheap, but don't have lots of money so didn't want to dive in without getting some advice and idea of prices. I live in the West Midlands area and just wanted to hear from anyone who's had it done and can recommend a good place to get it done/ideas of prices/what the procedure actually involves. Thanks a lot! :) Hey, thanks for the advice so far, I've tried whitening toothpastes etc but my dentist told me I'd need it done professionally because of the type of staining. I couldn't afford it at the time, hence not going any further and looking into it now. x
What tooth whitening options are available to people with bleeding gums?
I know someone that would like to have whiter teeth possibly without using over the counter products, has been to the dentists and wasn't satisfied with a kit that was custom made for her problem, and would like to consider laser whitening, would her bleeding gums make this a problem however ?
Do all celebrities have their teeth whitened?
Or do they really brush them? I'm asking because I've noticed that celebrities have gleaming white teeth and I wanted to know out of curiosity if they do use teeth whitening or a dental veneer. I can imagine a celebrity with yellow teeth and when they are starring in a film they edit the teeth to make it white or if they use teeth whitening to make it white. Overall question: Do all celebrities have their teeth whitened or does their stunning white teeth come from brushing it? Just wanted to know. Thanks.
how much is it to get your teeth whitened and realigned?
i herd its cheaper and better to do it abroad
how can i whiten my teeth?
im really self conscious about my teeth because they are really yellow. This would be due to the fact i drink too much tea. I have cut back on the tea but im still unhappy with my teeth. I can't avoid hardly any of the whitening treatments as im only 18 and bicarbonate of soda doesn't work for me. Any suggestions?
whats the best way to whiten ur teeth?
ive heard about strawberys and baking soda........
Is teeth whitening available on the NHS?
I had a jaw osteotomy last year and was told to use corsodyl, but not when to stop. That resulted in my teeth turning black (not all, all were stained though). Because of the osteotomy, I couldn't open my mouth properly so was unable to see the black. I was under the care of a lot of doctors and no one noticed it until I told them. It is now a year on and the very visible staining is still there, it has but a dampener on the 8 year brace treatment and operation. It feels like hard work for nothing. My ortho said today there is no amount of scale/polishing that could remove it. Is there anyone I can contact about this? Because my teeth are now stained due to the failings of the Dr's, Nurses and Dentists whose care I was under. I know, my consultant was great, but the nurses and registrar didn't bat an eyelid at the staining. It is really depressing me because I spent 6 years with braces on & had really nice teeth, it was just my jaw alignment. And now I have a good jaw but stained teeth. I'm not in the financial predicament to fund it for myself at the moment, being a student etc. But it's not about the money, more about the hard work I put in and all I sacrificed.
Do you brush your teeth after using Crest whitening strips?
